The DD Form 2542 “Certificate of Appreciation for Service in the Armed Forces of the United States,” bearing President Biden’s signature, is considered obsolete as of January 20, 2025. Continuation of the certificate program is at the discretion of the current administration.
Marines approaching retirement are encouraged to verify their permanent mailing address and home of record to ensure proper delivery if certificates are reissued.
