Sergeant Major Shehene M. Bedran

A native of Los Angeles, CA, Sergeant Major Bedran enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1995 at the age of 18.  After completing recruit training at MCRD, San Diego, and combat training at MCB Camp Pendleton, then Private First Class Bedran was shipped to Camp Johnson, Camp Lejuene where he completed his MOS training as an Administrative Clerk.  Upon completion of MOS school, Private First Class Bedran was assigned to H&S BN MCRD Parris Island, SC.  While at MCRD, Parris Island, SC, he was promoted to Lance Corporal and in 1997, then Lance Corporal Bedran received orders to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, aboard 29 Palms, CA.  While assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, he served in numerous billets, including Administrative Chief and Platoon Sergeant and experienced a UDP to Okinawa Japan before being released from active duty as a Corporal in December 1999.  After a brief stint in the Individual Ready Reserves, then Corporal  Bedran joined H&S Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines in Encino, CA in the Selected Marine Corps Reserve. 
 
In 2002, then Corporal Bedran was recalled to active duty alongside the entire battalion in response to the 9/11 terror attacks.  While on active duty, he was meritoriously promoted to Sergeant and served as a platoon sergeant in addition to his administrative responsibilities.  In 2003 he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and served as a liaison at Camp Commando, Kuwait during the initial phases of the war.  In 2004, then Sergeant Bedran was once again released from active duty and continued to serve in the same capacity as a drilling reservist with 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines.  In 2006, then Staff Sergeant Bedran assumed to the billet of Company Gunnery Sergeant until his departure in 2008.  Then Staff Sergeant Bedran joined an Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) at Mobilization Training Battalion (MTB), Camp Pendleton, CA, and was brought back onto active duty.  While assigned to MTB, then Staff Sergeant Bedran graduated Combat Instructor Course and earned the additional MOS 0913.  As a Combat Instructor, then Staff Sergeant Bedran was assigned to a mobile cadre training team that was responsible for delivering Combat Hunter Training in a multitude of training areas for both active duty and reserve components.  While assigned as a Combat Instructor he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and was then transferred to Deployment Processing Command West as the Operations Chief and remained on active duty until 2013. In 2014, then Gunnery Sergeant Bedran was released from active duty once again and was later selected for First Sergeant.
 
In 2014, then First Sergeant Bedran was assigned to Alpha Company, Counter Intelligence / Human Intelligence, Intelligence Support Battalion (ISB), Miramar, CA.  In 2016, he was transferred to H&S Company, ISB, Mobile, AL.  In 2018 he was transferred to Bravo Company, 4th Tank Battalion, Yakima, WA.  In 2019, he was selected to Sergeant Major and was assigned as the Senior Enlisted Leader for 6th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Co (ANGLICO) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.  Upon a successful tour of duty at 6th ANGLICO, Sergeant Major Bedran was slated and assigned as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Marine Air Control Group 48, 4th Marine Air Wing, Great Lakes, IL.  After another successful tour of duty, Sergeant Major Bedran was slated again and is mobilized to his current position as the Senior Enlisted Leader, Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Reserve Affairs Division, Quantico, VA.  Upon the conclusion of current tour of duty at Reserve Affairs, Sergeant Major Bedran will return to the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Supervisory Program Application Specialist (GS-12) at the VA Greater Los Angeles.  Sergeant Major Bedran holds a Bachelor's degree Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology, a Master's degree in Criminal Justice, and a black belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu.
 
Sergeant Major Bedran's personal decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, and a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award.
