Sergeant Major Adam M. Gharati
Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Manpower Plans and Policy Division
Sergeant Major Adam M. Gharati is a native of Lubbock, Texas. He attended recruit training in April 1998. Upon completion of basic training, Private First Class Gharati reported to Marine Corps Engineer School, Camp Lejeune where he received the MOS of 1371 Combat Engineer.

In November 1998, Private First Class Gharati reported to Combat Engineer Company, Combat Assault Battalion; 3rd Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan where he served as a SAW Gunner, Demolitions Man, and Fire Team Leader, participating in Operations TANDEM THRUST and COBRA GOLD. In November 1999, Lance Corporal Gharati reported to Bridge Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion; 2nd Marine Logistics Group.

He was meritoriously promoted to Corporal in March 2000 and served as a Fire Team Leader and Squad Leader before being promoted to the rank of Sergeant in April 2001. In April 2001 , Sergeant Gharati reported to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division where he served primarily as the Landmine Warfare Instructor and Explosive Demolitions Subject Matter Expert at Engineer Training Area-3 . In July 2002, Sergeant Gharati reported to Marine Corps Embassy Security Group where he served as a Marine Security Guard/ Assistant Detachment Commander at American Embassies in Beijing, China and Ankara, Turkey. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in December 2004 and sent to Baku, Azerbaijan to serve as the Interim Detachment Commander.

In July 2005, Staff Sergeant Gharati was assigned to 2nd Intelligence Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group where he deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM as the Battalion Engineer Chief. He deployed a second time in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM as the Cross-Boundary Intelligence Chief. In June 2007, Staff Sergeant Gharati received orders to Marine Corps Engineer School where he served as a Demolitions and Explosive Warfare instructor and as a class advisor for multiple Basic Combat Engineer and NCO classes. In December 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

In September 2010, Gunnery Sergeant Gharati received orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 8, 2nd Marine Logistics Group where he deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as the Engineer Company Operations Chief. Upon returning he received orders to 8th Engineer Support Battalion where he deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as the Battalion Assistant Operations Chief. In February 2013, Gunnery Sergeant Gharati was promoted to First Sergeant and received orders to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms where he served as the Alpha and Bravo Company First Sergeant. In July of 2015 First Sergeant Gharati received orders to 1st Battalion 7th Marines, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division where he served as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant and deployed in support of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Central Command.

In July 2016, First Sergeant Gharati received orders to Site Support, Engineer Services Company, Combat Logistics Battalion-23, Marine Corps Forces Reserve; Springfield, Oregon where he served as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant. He was promoted to Sergeant Major in April 2017 and executed orders to Recruiting Station Charleston, West Virginia, where he served as the RS Sergeant Major. In July 2018, upon RS Charleston being deactivated, he executed orders to Columbus, Ohio and activated RS Columbus. In November 2020 Sergeant Major Gharati executed orders to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan where he served as the Station Sergeant Major. In July 2023 he executed orders to Manpower & Reserve Affairs and currently serves as the Manpower Plans and Policy Division Senior Enlisted Leader.

Sergeant Major Gharati's personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 4 gold stars, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 3 gold stars.
