Commissioning Sources Monitored by ROCP:

- Officer Candidate Course - Reserve (OCC-R)
- Reserve Enlisted Commissioning Program (RECP)
- Meritorious Commissioning Program - Reserve (MCP-R)
- Platoon Leader’s Course - Reserve (PLC-R)
- Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps – Reserve (NROTC-R).

    geo vs flex service agreements

Service Agreements, which are initially signed with an Officer Selection Officer (OSO), allow Reserve officers to elect the prioritization of geographic location for MOS and unit assignment.,

GEO Contract: Lieutenant elects that unit location is priority
  • MOS and unit assignment falls within 150 statute-mile radius of Primary Residence

  • Officer initials paragraph 3a on Service Agreement and indicates Primary Residence

  • TBS performance and TBS staff-assessment remain a significant factor

  • Risk: The officer's referred MOS may not be available within that geographic area

  • flex contract: lieutenant elects that MOS is priority
  • Geographic location remains significant. However, the officer is not constrained to the 150 statute-mile radius

  • Officer initials paragraph 3b on Service Agreement and indicates Primary Residence

  • TBS performance and TBS staff-assessment remain a significant factor

  • Risk: Officer may have to utilize IDT Travel Reimbursement to cover travel costs to and from monthly drill periods.

Professional Development Tours (PDT)

Provides newly trained Reserve officers the opportunity for an operational tour with the Active Component (AC) to gain leadership and technical experience appropriate to their Grade and Primary Military Occupational Specialty (PMOS).

Following graduation from MOS school, the officer can receive orders for a 12-month tour with an Active Duty unit.
