When a Marine expresses a desire to prolong their overseas stay, various incentives may come into play, depending on the circumstances. The Overseas Tour Extension Incentive Program (OTEIP) incentivizes these requests, allowing Marines to extend their assignment for a duration of 12 to 35 months, unlocking a choice from three incentives:
-
Incentive 1: An annual bonus of $2,000, payable as 12 monthly payments of $167.
-
Incentive 2: A period of 15 days of special rest & recuperative absence & a round-trip ticket to the nearest CONUS point of entry (POE) for the Marine.
-
Incentive 3: A period of 30 days of special rest & recuperative absence.
To assist Marines in visualizing the impact of their extension request, the OTEIP Calculator provides a clear depiction of the revised RTD and the necessary extension duration to align with the newfound date.
