Mission
The Manpower Management Sergeant Major serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Director of Manpower Management, providing strategic oversight of the assignment process for the O-6 8999 population and the Sergeants Major slating process. In this role, the Sergeant Major supervises and integrates all enlisted personnel functions across the Manpower Management portfolio, ensuring assignments are executed with transparency, efficiency, and strict adherence to Marine Corps policy and institutional standards.
Additionally, the Sergeant Major plays a critical role in senior enlisted screening and advisory boards, ensuring candidates for high-visibility, force-level, and general officer–level assignments are rigorously vetted. Through deliberate talent management and disciplined governance, the office directly supports the Corps’ readiness, leadership alignment, and long-term mission effectiveness.
